220: Pearl Jam release Ten
Ten was the debut album from Seattle rockers Pearl Jam released in August 27, 1991. The album was not an instant success -– it took about a year for it to gain momentum. While the band was accused of jumping on the grunge bandwagon – maybe it was just because they were from Seattle -– Eddie Vedder and company were clearly instrumental in the rise of alternative rock in the 90’s. Ten produced three hit singles: “Even Flow,” “Alive,” and “Jeremy” and has been certified 12 times platinum.
