310: Sticky Fingers album cover

In 1971 Andy Warhol photographs the denim-clad groin area of Warhol Factory regular Jed Johnson. The photo goes on to become an indelible image in the world of rock ‘n’ roll, as it became the cover photo for The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers album. The cover even initially featured a working zipper that when opened revealed the white cotton briefs that Johnson wore. The zipper, however, damaged early pressings of the album, leaving a huge scratch through “Sister Morphine”. It was the first album that used the Stones’ trademark “Tongue and Lips” logo and in 2003 VH-1 named Sticky Fingers the #1 Greatest Album Cover of All Time.
