325: Derek & The Dominos record “Layla”
It was their one and only studio album, but what an album it was. Derek & The Dominos released Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs in December 1970. Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, and Carl Radle recorded the album at Criterion Studios and was recorded over two months in August and September, 1970. Entangled in a love triangle with George and Patti Boyd Harrison, Clapton took the name of the title song from the Persian love story “Layla and Majnoun.”
