324: Doc Pomus writes “Teenager In Love”

Jerome Solon Felder – AKA – Doc Pomus – was born in Brooklyn in 1925. He started out as a performer but turned to songwriting in the Fifties and started writing as a staff writer in the legendary Brill Building. Doc Pomus has written some of the most important songs in rock and roll history. He often wrote by himself and occasionally collaborated with others including Phil Spector and Lieber & Stoller. His primary songwriting partner was Mort Shuman and together they wrote classics like “This Magic Moment,” “Youngblood,” “Save The Last Dance For Me,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “Little Sister,” and “Why Must I Be A Teenager In Love.”
