428: The Faces form, 1969
The Faces formed in 1969 from the remaining members of the Small Faces after Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton. Ron Wood and Rod Stewart joined former Small Faces members Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones. They released four of the grittiest and rocking albums between 1970-1973 and turned out great singles like “Stay With Me,” and “(I Know) I’m Losing You.” The Faces were also known for the deeper tracks on their albums like “Cindy Incidentally,” “Ooh La La,” “Had Me a Real Good Time,” and “Wicked Messenger.” Their influence on bands like The Replacements and the Black Crowes is fairly evident.
