788: Ryan Adams breaks up Whiskeytown
Alt-country singer-songwriter Ryan Adams is notorious for being temperamental. (He once kicked a fan out of one of his shows for yelling “Summer of ‘69!,” an ’80s hit for the similar-sounding Bryan Adams.) In 1999, thanks to constant line-up changes and record label drama, Adams left the influential band Whiskeytown to pursue a solo career. His solo debut Heartbreaker was released in 2000.
John Myers, Line Producer for World Cafe on XPN, recaps the night he and a friend met Ryan Adams in New York City. Listen here to the recap.
