I worked at the Point for many years until the early '70's. Also managed to take 100's of photos of the acts performing there. Unfortunately many of the greats who played there are now gone. The memories still come alive for me whenever I listen to an lp from one of the Main Point stars.

I worked at the Main Point 1968-1972 and fondly rmember the days of the "Point". Heard and met many fantastic artists; remember Bonnie Raitt stepping up to play a few tunes before Chris Smither came on for his set. Bonnie had been in the Point many times with Dick Waterman, however, none of us ever knew she could sing and play! And to have been luck enough to hear ALL the Taylor family-James, Livingston, Kate, and Alex--WOW! Many of the performers are gone now--David Ackles, Jimmie Spheeris, Tim Buckley, Tim Hardin, etc. but their memories performing at the Main Point will remain with me always. I am fortunate to have been a part of a great Philly institution! Thanks

The Main Point was always a warm and inviting place to see a show.
Two of my favorite memories include going to see Livingston Taylor and realizing the two tall, well dressed (their jeans had creases in them) guys sitting in front of us were James Taylor and Peter Asher checking out James' little bro.
I also remember going to see Chris Smither and going downstairs to the bathroom before the show and passing this really young, very nervous guy with a guitar that was the opening act for Chris. Little known, at the time, guy by the name of Jackson Browne. He was scared to death while he waited to go onstage. I saw Chris several years ago and mentioned this night to him and he turned to the woman with him and said; See, I told you I opened for him! And then we all laughed and were glad we were still around to remember these things .......
