The Vaughn Brothers
by Chuck Goushian, Runnemede, NJ
I forget the year. But this was by far the greatest musical experience anybody could have, other than if you were lucky enough to go to a Beatles concert.
My wife and I went to see Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble at the Mann Music Center. I forget the opening act. The second band to play was The Fabulous Thunderbirds, which featured Steve’s brother Jimmy. The Fab T’s were great. Then of course was Stevie Ray! Awesome! But the great part was saved until the end. For the last encore, Stevie Ray came onto the empty stage, carrying a double necked guitar, and sat down on a metal folding chair. Stevie started to “go to town” on this thing. After a little while, his brother Jimmy came strolling onto the stage. Standing behind Stevie Ray, and leaning over him, Jimmy began to play on the second neck of the guitar. The two Vaughn brothers were wailing on the double neck guitar. The crowd was wild, and so were Stevie Ray & Jimmy!
I still get goose bumps whenever I tell this story to anybody.

That is amazing, I have told the same story several occasions. I saw that tour in Bloomington, IN, had to be ‘87-ish……everyone in the audience was absolutely blown away…
