The Sleep-Over with John Hall

Shortly before local boys, Hall and Oates, became national stars, John Hall spent the night at my apartment after a night of hanging out with mutual friends. (No, we did not sleep together. He was interested in my girlfriend but he ended up sleeping on the couch.) He left before I awoke the next day but he left a lovely note in my personal phone book with an invite to visit his home in California anytime.
A few years later, my daughter who was a preteen at the time, saw John’s entry in my phone book and took it to school to saw off to all her friends. She was star-struck because by this time our local boys had made the big time.
