Live Aid
by Connie Kreischer Slingbuam, Havertown, PA
I was the youngest of three children, my older brother and sister were part of the Woodstock generation. That music festival served as a monumental cultural marker, a musical moment that they could share. For me that moment came on July 13, 1985 in my hometown of Philadelphia, Live Aid came to town and I got to be part of one of the major musical markers for my generation. It was a monumental concert and acts in the USA included the Hooters, Madonna, Led Zepplin, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger. The entire world had their eyes on Philadelphia and $100 million dollars was raised for Ethiopian famine relief.
