Lilith Fair

by Sonja, Quakertown, PA

When I was a senior in high school it was announced that Sarah McLachlan was starting an all women music festival. I couldn’t wait to see many of my favorites singers and be introduced to some I’ve never heard of before such as Patty Griffin. Critics all said that the Lilith Fair would flop, that women couldn’t carry a tour like that, that it wouldn’t make any money. It amazed me that it never occurred to men that half of the population is women and we spend money too! How I laughed when the shows sold out and had huge numbers turn out to hear all women play music!
