Rocking with Phish
by Gordon, Hockessin, Delaware
As kids growing up in the 60’s, we saw many garage bands come and go. I was pleased when my own teenage son became a member of a band in Newark (Del) called Section 8, playing covers and some original tunes. I too had always hoped to play in a garage band and got my chance when Section 8 played an Easter Seals benefit at Roosevelt Park in South Philly. I play trumpet which works with most bands but not all. We performed a good cover of Phish’s “Cavern” with horn just as they recorded on the last track of their box set. The show turned out great, and I’m still playing swing, funk, jazz, as well as classical.
