Lucinda Williams at the TLA
by Megan, Spring City, PA
I had my one and only crying “Beatles” moment when I saw Lucinda Williams at the TLA on July 22, 2002. I had become a Lucinda fan in 1998 when I first starting listening to WXPN (Car Wheels came out that year). Between the release of Car Wheels and Essence, I became a follower of Lucinda and her music and lyrics helped me through much heartache.
Anyway, I was about 3 people back from the stage and had a perfect view of this incredible woman. The energy in the room was incredible and perfect! Perhaps it was a combination of the elements in that moment coupled with my awe of Lucinda and my emotional vulnerabilty but I starting bawling like a baby! I never understood the crying, fainting, hysterical girls from old Beatles footage until that moment. That was a very special night and probably the closest I’ll ever come to my favorite singer/songwriter.

Megan,
Thanks for responding to my post of August 24 about Lucinda at the TLA in 2002. I just saw it tonight. It’s amazing you had the same experience that I had.
