Phish…Va. Beach Ampitheatre…Aug. 98
by Kerrie, Folsom, PA
I was just at the end of touring with Phish. I was ready to go home after a long tour. I have seen many shows and seen a lot of great moments. I was out of money, out of tickets and out of energy. The Virginia Beach Ampitheatre was different. They didn’t let anyone in the parking lot unless they had a ticket. Unlike everywhere else when there were people begging for tickets to the show and other things.
It was a great time for me and my friends. We were excited for our last show before we went home. It was a beautiful night and we were so excited. That night, they played the Beastie Boys, they played “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. Lets just say…it was a very good night! They came out and played two encores and everyone was pleased. What the crowd didn’t know was that it was Jerry Garcia’s 3rd Anniversary. As everyone starts piling out of The Ampitheatre, over the hill and on there way home they come back out for a 3rd encore JUST TO PLAY TERRAPIN STATION!!! The whole entire place went crazy! It was a dream come true.
To actually see Phish play the Dead was unbelievable and in my mind one of the greatest moments of my concert life! Some time later I found that very concert on tape and every time I listen to it I get chills, remembering what a great moment I had caught. How many people probably thought…”Man…I wish I had seen that show!”
