Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer at Falcon Ridge

by Elizabeth, Philadelphia, PA

At Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in July 2001, Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer played a song so new, that it didn’t yet have a name. Falcon Ridge is always a place where there are strong connections between performers and the audience, but this was even more than that. It was the second to last set of the evening, so it was dark on the hillside and the stars were shining above. The song was so deep and sacred and magical — we all felt connected. The next time I saw them in concert, the song had been named — “Mother I Climbed”.
