The Breakfast Show

If you ever saw the movie “Gimme Shelter” of the Rolling Stones 1969 tour leading up to the Altamont Motor Speedway show, you may recall Mick Jagger welcoming everyone to the Breakfast Show. I was there. I showed up around an hour before the second show that night at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood in LA. It was about 10PM and the show included B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, and the Rolling Stones. To our surprise, we could hear B.B. King and soon found out that we weren’t late but that the first show had just started!
Well, it took a long time for the show to finally start, and the Stones probably got on stage sometime after 3AM, I really can’t remember. But when they did, everyone got up and was standing for the entire show and moved as close as they could towards the stage, with some lucky person catching Mick’s scarf. When we left the sun was just starting to rise: time for breakfast!
