Live Aid 1985
by James McWilliams, Drexel Hill, PA
I was not there but watched on TV. I believe this was the most significant rock event of the last thirty years. It was the only time such a collection of musical artists could assemble for such an event. The subsequent events Live 8 and Live Earth were not quite the same. My highlight of the day was the appearance of Led Zeppelin on stage with Phil Collins. I waited about ten hours to see that even if only on TV. Despite the fact that Jimmy Page was dissatisfied, it was a big deal for me. Also my brother-in-law John Harris worked a job that allowed him to get autographs from Robert Plant and several members of Duran Duran. Unfortunately, I don’t have any visual images to submit but it was nice all the same.
