My almost-trip to Woodstock
by Donna Greenberg, Bensalem, PA
In August 1969, some friends and I heard about the upcoming Woodstock festival and decided to drive up. Like everyone else, we got stuck on the exit ramp off the NY Thruway. Not realizing what a monumental and historic event this would be, we decided to ditch the crowd and somehow managed to drive away to a nearby campground, where we stayed for a couple of days. By the time we left, as John Lennon said, “I saw the news today, Oh boy!”
