My son’s first concert with his Mom in the rain!

by Sharon Anderson, Rildley Park, PA

My son Joe was 15 at the time and a freshman at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, PA. He was really into Green Day and heard about the Y100 FEZtival at the Tweeter Center in 1997 I believe! His friends weren’t able to go and he did so well in school that I decided to take him to the concert.

It was hot and steamy and he did find some friends from high school to hang out with! We did the mosh pit dancing and all that but the highlight of the day was the thunder and lightning storm that night while Green Day was playing “The Time of Your Life.” I remember that day everytime I have heard that song play since and I hope my son does as well! He is a great guy who loves music and the second time we shared a concert in the rain was at the XPN Appel Farm in June 2003 when he just arrived home from a college year in London and we went to the concert to hear Los Lonely Boys for the first time!
