Early days
by Jeff Lubin, Shavertown, PA
I went to Penn 72-76, was an early regular listener to WXPN when Jules Epstein and John Delaberdo etc. were on air, when the foxhole was in the basement of some church on campus and featured unbelievably great live jazz performances from the likes of Dave Holland, etc.
I used to make cookies in my apartment, so I could get in for free, and get backstage seating trading my cookies for sale at intermission. I absolutely loved everything about WXPN, my favorite was listening to Sleepy Hollow with my girlfriend, now my wife, on Sunday mornings still in bed, half asleep, letting the music take us into and out of dreamland. WXPN turned me on to music and artists I otherwise would never have heard of.
