Bob Dylan meets the Beatles 8/30/64

by Adam, Philadelphia, PA

Approaching the pinnacle of his creative genius, Dylan was seeking out creative and influential musicians to expose to alternate consciousness and awaken their latent political and cultural potential. Nowhere was this influence more immediately and profoundly felt than when he had occasion to turn the Beatles on and galvanize their sense of the responsibility that accompanied their already significant power.

At the time they were basically finished with “Beatles for Sale” and working on “Help!”. In March of 1965 “Rubber Soul” burst onto the scene and began a process that would utterly transform the music and culture of the west.

The Beatles significance in this process is widely recognized, but on August 30, 1964, Bob Dylan was its catalyst.
