Utah Phillips at WXPN
by Lynn Senick, Montrose, Pennsylvania
A few summers ago I saw Utah Phillips at WXPN. I came down from Montrose way up in northeastern P.A. on the N.Y. border. I left on the spur of the moment when some younger friends of mine told me they were coming to see him.
I first heard Utah back in the early seventies on your station when I was growing up in Philly. He (and Rosalee Sorrels) greatly influenced my lifelong political and social beliefs and I was so pleased to be able to meet Utah in person to tell him that and to shake his hand and get his mark on my box set of C.Ds.
I was also happy that my twenty-something year old friends were able to meet such a legendary musician and storyteller. I hope he influenced them as well and they pass on his memory and legacy.
