U2 - Joshua Tree Tour at JFK
by David Brinton, New Cumberland, PA
U2 was just beginning to peak when they did this show at JFK (which would not be there much longer) — what a terrific show and to top it off Bruce Springsteen came out and did an Encore with them. Awesome!!
And as after the show and people were leaving, they kept singing “How long, must we sing this song ….” which just put a cap on a great evening. It was one of my first concerts and still one of the best!!

I have to second that…It was my third U2 concert (I saw them on the War Tour and for Unforgettable Fire). This was an amazing night! There were remnants from the Grateful Dead’s concerts a few days earlier, Bono, with a broken arm, getting a guy from the audience to play his guitar, then the second time he asks, he says “can Bruce Springsteen play my guitar?” The place went WILD!
That was my freshman year in college - and a total blast!
August 2nd, 2007 at 5:00 pmI was 7 months pregnant at this concert and as much of a devoted U2 fan I am, the concert couldn’t of been any more perfect than bringing up Bruce on the stage!! Being a Philly girl, Bruce sang about my life in Kensington, the blue-collar working man and U2 sings about life, war and struggles in Ireland. Which I was raised Irish Catholic - It all came together musically for me on that hot August night in 1987 at JFK stadium in South Philly.
