Records that changed the world

In the June issue of my favorite music magazine, Mojo, they had a list of the 100 Records That Changed The World. But I’ll just say right here: Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” at number one? Were these music critics on crack when they put this list together? You mean the ol’ “A-wop-bop-a-loo-lop” beat out The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand” (number 2); “Heartbreak Hotel” by Elvis (number 3), Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone” (number 17) or even The Rolling Stones’ “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction?” Yes, indeed.

I am sure choosing the number one record that changed the world is a daunting task. That’s a lot of weight to carry. Our guest bloggers Teenage Kicks blogged about the Songs That Changed Everything for the countdown and while they’ve put together a great list. I’m not so sure why they included The Archies’ “Sugar, Sugar” (maybe they got a guilty pleasure attack). But I’ll excuse the Teenage Kicks guys for that since their list does have some very that did indeed “changed everything.” Some of their choices include Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes, “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag” from The Godfather of Soul; “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke and, of course, one of my favorite’s “Born To Run” by The Boss. Be sure to check out their entire list.

We want to know what records you think changed the world and/or changed everything.

Feel free to include your guilty pleasures…
