1. “Planet of the Apes” from “A Fish Called Selma” — Troy McClure in a musical version of Planet of the Apes — “It’s the role I was born to play!” As Bart says, “this show has everything,” including a big production number with the Statue of Liberty. Includes the most brilliant monkey lyric in history:

I hate every ape I see,
From chimpan-A to chimpanzee,
No, you’ll never make a monkey out of me!

2. “See My Vest” from “Two Dozen and One Greyhounds” — C. Montgomery Burns wants to make a coat from Santa’s Little Helper’s puppies. He prances around in his collection of clothing made from animal skins and solidifies his role as the world’s most evil old man:

Like my loafers? Former gophers
It was that or skin my chauffeurs,
But a greyhound fur tuxedo
Would be best

3. “We Do! (The Stonecutters Song)” from “Homer the Great” — Seems that Homer is the “Chosen One” in the secret Stonecutters society that controls everything. The members have a meeting, but first they sing a toast to their power:

Who holds back the electric car?
Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?
We do! We do!

4. “Mr. Plow” from “Mr. Plow” — When Homer goes into the snowplow business, he creates the most memorable jingle in jingle history. Even Linda Ronstadt’s Spanish-language jingle for Barney can’t beat:

Call Mr. Plow, that’s my name!
That name again is Mr. Plow!

5. “Baby on Board” from “Homer’s Barbershop Quartet” — The Grammy-winning B-Sharps reunite on the roof of Moe’s Tavern after a painful breakup. George Harrison drives by in a limo, says, “It’s been done,” wrapping up an episode packed with Beatles references. They sing until Chief Wiggum (replaced in the group by Ringo — I mean Barney) tells Lou to “get the tear gas.”

Baby on board, how I’ve adored
That sign on my car’s windowpane
A bounce in my step, loaded with pep
‘Cause I’m driving in the carpool lane”

Honorable Mention:
“New Orleans” from “A Streetcar Named Marge” — Marge is Blanche to the incredibly buff Ned Flanders as Stanley. Maggie plots a “Great Escape” from oppressive daycare. Since Hurricane Katrina, this song isn’t as funny:

Long before the SuperDome

Hear their hellish roundelay.
