Phil Roy’s “I’m Not Leaving the House” tour

by Leslie Crowell, Philadelphia, PA

One of the many things I adore about XPN is the exposure to local musicians. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to hear Phil Roy’s music on XPN; if I lived somewhere else, and didn’t have XPN in my life, I might have never heard him. Having said that…

The real WOW moment was attending one of Phil’s “I’m Not Leaving the House” tour events at his Center City apartment. I had read an article in the Inquirer about the dinner party/performance and e-mailed Phil. So there I was, June 9, 2006, with my boyfriend, sipping wine on Phil’s deck with fifteen other guests. Phil, his dog (Travis) and the guests all just hanging out with a great view of the city.

A lovely dinner was served while we all chatted Phil up. We then descended downstairs to a really cool guitar shop for an intimate performance. You can just imagine how great Phil sounded with his voice and guitar echoing through all the guitars hanging on the walls. What an amazing night it was.

The set ended with a sing-along to “Undeniably Human.” An undeniably unforgettable experience.

PS- Phil was recently signed to Decca label — now everyone will get to hear is music!
