I Remember, because I can’t forget.

by Jim, Elkins Park, PA

Sometime in the mid 1960’s, riding in the passenger seat of my uncle’s Ford Ranchero, with my father at the wheel, Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue” came crackling through the dashboard speaker. The radio was tuned to 560 AM (WFIL), but was changed midway through the song, presumably to protect me from hearing Johnny sing of “The Son-of-a-B**** ” that named him Sue! I lost my father this year. It used to drive my Dad crazy that I “never forgot anything”, but I’m thinking when he looks down upon me today, he’s happy that I didn’t, and so am I.
