John Prine at Penn’s Landing and Mary Chapin Carpenter at the TLA

by Susan Emerle, Barrinton, NJ

I have two very special, memorable moments from WXPN events. My first one was when I saw John Prine for my first and only time at Penn’s Landing nearly 15 or 16 years ago. It was always the surprise of becoming acquainted with a singer/songwriter that you were unaware of that made WXPN events become defining moments in my life. My second memorable moment was seeing Mary Chapin Carpenter at the TLA only to find out that most people were there to see Nancy Griffith who was the headliner. I had no idea who Nancy Griffith was but once again became a huge fan and of course, I still play Mary Chapin Carpenter like she is my long lost friend when I need a good friend’s advice.
