My Rocking Moments According To Me

by Anonymous, Philadelphia, Pa

- When I was 10 years old and for being such a good student my wish granted: my own record player where I could play my Ricky Nelson records followed closely by my 45’s: Angel Baby, Book of Love, etc

- When I was 12 years old and went to my first concert in downtown Brooklyn: The Murray the K show(a famous radio DJ) with Little Stevie Wonder (he was about 11 or 12 years old), and others such as The Ronettes. Getting caught up in that live concert crowd crazy phenomenon.

- When I was a junior in high school hearing Dylan’s ‘LIKE A ROLLING STONE on the radio. INCREDIBLE!!!!

- In 1967, hearing Van Morrison’s WILD NIGHT-I was real real gone.

- Jimi Hendrix performing WILD THING at Monterey. Riveting.

- Woodstock: Santana!

- Then Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Linda Rondstadt… and wishing I could sing.

- And then around 1979, Rickie Lee Jones’ debut album and wishing I could really sing AND write songs.

- Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Van the Man forever

- Wilco: and what more can I say?? Why couldn’t I be a musician????
